New landscapes was captured by the photographic image, giving a another perspective, another meaning. Whether through photogravure mechanisms, technological manipulation, or even simple overlapping of photographic elements, recording moments of everyday travel, the sky, the point of arrival and departure, the drift of discovery, the search for the unreferenced unknown.

Paula Almozara, a Brazilian artist, returns to Galeria das Salgadeiras with her most recent work “Céu”, an exhibition of engraving, photography and installation around the theme of Landscape as places of departure and arrival.

Continuing to explore technical processes that fuse Photography and Printmaking, Paula Almozara builds new landscapes from the captured photographic image, giving it another perspective, another meaning. Whether through photogravure mechanisms, technological manipulation, or even simple overlapping of photographic elements, Paula Almozara records moments of everyday travel, the sky, the point of arrival and departure, the drift of discovery, the search for the unreferenced unknown. These elements, matrixes of a creative process in which nostalgia is the protagonist, always occurring in a moment marked by the physical and emotional distance from the place, are aggregated and interpreted according to what emerges from memory, imperfect, irregular and subjective, as if “Walks on the banks of the current”, recovering the verse by Pedro Ayres de Magalhães, inscribed in one of the works of this series “Céu”.

This project, initiated in 2014, was deserving of the "Brasil Fotografia Prize for Project Development", by the Ministry of Culture and Porto Seguro Cia de Seguros Gerais.
